What happens to your voice
Kokoro Nikki runs no transcription service of its own. It hands the audio to the speech recognition already built into your phone — the same engine behind the microphone key on your keyboard. Depending on your device, Apple or Google may process the audio to do this, under their own privacy policies. The recording itself is never uploaded to us: it is saved in the app's private folder on your phone, and only the text ends up in your entry.
The recording stays on your phone
We never receive the audio file. It lives in the app's private storage on your device alongside the entry it belongs to, and it is erased along with everything else when you delete your data from Settings or uninstall the app. Writing and reading your journal never need a connection; the speech recognition itself usually does, unless your phone has an offline language pack installed for your language.
Supported languages
Voice journaling works in English, Spanish, and Japanese — including full support for the natural rhythms of each language. Japanese dictation supports both casual speech and formal registers, with mora-accurate transcription for haiku composition.
